Worthing awarded marketing grant
Worthing has been awarded a massive £170,000 to be put towards marketing initiatives, reports British Business Finder.
The European 2 Seas programme handed the borough council a grant in a bid to “support the visitor economy in the area”.
Multilingual signs and promenade improvements have been earmarked as worthy targets for the funding, which will be matched by Worthing Borough Council’s own capital budget, claims The Argus.
In addition, a mobile version of visitworthing.com will be created, allowing those interested to visit the area to check out the town through their mobile devices.
Letting agents in Worthing may be hoping this will encourage more landlords to extend their property portfolio in the area as Worthing receives more funding to improve the town.
Bryan Turner, the council’s cabinet member for regeneration, commented on the cash boost: “This project offers a fantastic and unique opportunity for tourism businesses in Worthing to really put the town on the tourism map across Europe and beyond.
“I would encourage all tourism businesses to maximise the opportunities that this funding presents to them, and help us shape Worthing’s future as a first class visitor destination,” he added.
The funding means Worthing has managed to raise over £1 million of external funding over the last couple of years.
