Shoreham is the working port between Worthing and Hove — Norman church, houseboats on the Adur, a characterful high street, and a station with fast trains both ways. Rents sit between Worthing and Brighton.

Get a valuationShoreham-by-Sea has a different texture from the towns either side. It's a working port, with the river Adur cutting through the middle and a famous houseboat community moored along the eastern bank. The high street keeps a strong independent feel — delis, bookshops, a chocolatier, plenty of decent coffee — and there's a thriving food and music scene around the Ropetackle arts centre.
Housing is varied: Victorian terraces near the station, 1930s semis on the hills above, modernist seafront flats, and the famous houseboats themselves (occasionally listed). Old Shoreham still has its medieval flint church and Saxon timbers. New developments around the port have added apartment stock; older streets retain more character.
“A working harbour view and a high street that hasn't been chain-shopped to death.”
