Its standout feature is St Mary's Sompting — the Saxon church with the unique gable-roofed Rhenish-helm tower, one of only a few in the country. The historic village core around the church gives way to mid-century estates spreading north toward the A27 and east toward Lancing College.
Housing is mixed — older flint and brick cottages in the village core (especially around Church Lane and Sompting Road), 1930s and post-war semis on the broader residential streets, and pockets of newer developments toward the A27. Most properties have off-street parking and gardens larger than coastal Lancing for the same money.

Lancing station is at the southern edge of the village — direct trains to Brighton (16 min), Worthing (5 min) and London Victoria (1 hour 19 minutes). The A27 along the northern boundary makes road journeys east (Brighton) and west (Worthing) quick. Bus 700 runs along the A259 coastal road.
Sompting Village Primary and Boundstone Junior School are the local state primaries. Sir Robert Woodard Academy and Lancing College (independent) are the secondary options.
Renters who want a village feel with quick access to Brighton or Worthing by train. Popular with families priced out of Worthing or Hove, commuters who prefer a residential street to a town centre, and anyone who'd rather be walking distance from the South Downs than the seafront. Quieter than coastal Lancing and noticeably greener.
